Turning On A Dime
Those of you following our progress towards the goal of walking a 5k in every province will know that we are counting down the days until our latest adventure. We will be doing a 5k in PEI and New Brunswick as well as a stop in Montreal to see our brother.
But as the saying goes, when life hands you lemons make lemonade. And we had a big lemon handed to us when our flight to Moncton was cancelled. Not a problem you might say, and you would be right, except for the fact that our carefully coordinated trip designed to ensure that we could do a 5k walk in two different provinces and fit in a visit with our brother, could not accommodate the alternate times that we could fly to Moncton.
Walk This Way
So…. being the flexible Sisters that we are, we pivoted and are now flying to Fredericton to do our 5k walk in New Brunswick. This actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as we had reached an impasse when it came to agreeing on which attractions we would see in Moncton. Big Sis was adamant that she wanted to see the Magnetic Hill, while Little Sis was firm on her wish to visit the world’s biggest lobster statue.

However, when Little Sis found out that Fredericton is among the top cities in Canada by the number of taprooms per capita and that there is a taproom trail that includes 11 different breweries, she was all in on Fredericton. And because we are essentially making Little Sis be the driver on this trip, Big Sis and I agreed to sample some beer while we are there.
We also discovered that there is a terrific riverfront trail and walking bridge in Fredericton that will make it easy to map out a suitable 5k distance for us as there isn’t an official race happening at the time we will be there. So I guess all in all things worked out OK. We made some good lemonade!
Go Time
Other than this hiccup, the Sisters are ready for this adventure and are raring to go. Well… as raring as three seniors who are walking two 5ks in four days can be.😂 We plan to post Instagram stories documenting our progress, so keep an eye out for these in the coming days. Our challenge in the past has been to remember to take enough pictures of our activities that we can use for Instagram, so our mantra for this trip is “pictures, pictures, pictures.” Stay tuned to see how that worked out.
Till then, keep walking!
