You Meet the Nicest People
Those of you who follow us on Instagram (@bettywouldlovethat) know that our mom Betty was a master at chatting with anyone and everyone and making new friends wherever she went. On our most recent trips to Fredericton and Charlottetown, we followed in her footsteps and have a few more delightful stories to tell about the interesting people we met. Bar None At the risk of sounding like we spent the whole trip sitting in Bars, we did meet some interesting Bartenders. I think we felt our age when we found ourselves encouraging Bartender Milo, who had quit College to “make music” and wanted us to make sure we listened to…

On The Move Again
Those of you who have seen our recent instagram posts (@bettywouldlovethat), know that the Sisterhood was successful in completing the 5k walks they set out to do in New Brunswick and PEI. But there was so much more to our trip than just the walking. In fact, the rest of the story was arguably the more interesting and fun part of our trip. And so, here are some of the highlights. The Colonel Is Well Our first stop was in Montreal to pay a visit to our brother who we affectionately refer to as the Colonel due to his resemblance to a certain fried chicken magnate, although there was some…

Turning On A Dime
Those of you following our progress towards the goal of walking a 5k in every province will know that we are counting down the days until our latest adventure. We will be doing a 5k in PEI and New Brunswick as well as a stop in Montreal to see our brother. But as the saying goes, when life hands you lemons make lemonade. And we had a big lemon handed to us when our flight to Moncton was cancelled. Not a problem you might say, and you would be right, except for the fact that our carefully coordinated trip designed to ensure that we could do a 5k walk in…

Maritime Magic
So, just to refresh, the Sisterhood has a goal of walking 5k in every province. So far Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and Quebec have been crossed off our list, and just when we were deciding which province would be next, Don, a friend of Big Sis, suggested Antigonish as our Nova Scotia stop. Being from there, he painted a vivid picture of the town, and when Middle Sis heard that there would be Highland Games along with a walk that the Sisterhood could do, well she was not to be denied and so…Antigonish it was. Little did we know what a remarkable experience it would prove to be. We’re In Celtic…

🎵Summertime and the Livin’ is Busy!🎵
The Sisterhood is back and ready to rock! We’ve got so many stories to tell that it’s hard to know where to start. So, let’s make our way back to this past summer, July to be exact. We arranged a trip to Halifax with our final destination being Antigonish where we would walk our planned 5K, enjoy some Highland dancing and experience the famous Nova Scotia hospitality. As usual, there was drama, there was sightseeing and there was laughter and fun. The Drama The day before we were set to leave, Big Sis had an accident of the oops! variety. She was working out and unbeknownst to her at the…

All’s Well that Ends Well
After our post race recovery regimen of a shower and big lunch, complete with celebratory libations, it was time for the other important part of our trip. And that was spending time with our brother Randy, who we had not seen for a few years. He graciously came and picked us up and drove us to his farm, about two hours outside Montreal. Once we got over the surprise of how much he now looks like Colonel Sanders (albeit a more svelte version), we were off to the farm. Little Sis got the front seat on the drive and she had a great time enjoying our brother's somewhat offbeat sense…

One Foot In Front Of The Other
After settling in at our hotel and a fun evening at the rooftop lounge, it was now time to get serious and focus on the event that brought us to Montreal - a Sisterhood 5k walk. The tiaras are unpacked, we found a good restaurant for carbo loading before the walk and spent some time brushing up on our high school French. All we need now is for race day to arrive. But first....

Up, Up And Away
Well its official. We are finally on our way to Montreal for our first 5K walk in three years, and a visit with our brother on the side. The Sisterhood had been training for this, and we could not wait to get our kicks on and start the walk, but we had to get there first which was an adventure in itself. We travelled over four provinces, two time zones, and a language barrier. Let's go girls!

Bonjour Montreal, Here We Come!
Finally….. the long wait is over and the Sisterhood is breaking out of the COVID imposed travel embargo to once again work towards their goal of participating in a 5k walk in every province in Canada. So far we have checked BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan off the list and next week we will be able to check off Quebec after we participate in the Run For Women in Montreal. Even though we are feeling a bit rusty since our last walk, which was in Saskatoon in 2019, we are happy to once again be back out on the “trail” with the added bonus of getting to spend time with our…

For those of you anxiously waiting to hear about progress on our virtual walk to Montreal, we finally have an update and it may not be at all what you expected...
