I’m Too Old For This
I recently turned 72, and although I recognize the wisdom that comes with age, I don't particularly feel wise. What I do feel is much younger. In fact, my brain clearly thinks I am somewhere in the vicinity of my early 60s and on a good day my late 50s. Hence, I had no qualms whatsoever when Hubby proposed a trip to Portugal. This was to be our first big expedition since the pandemic and even if our travelling skills were a bit rusty, there was a distinct aura of enthusiasm in the air. We were ready to do it!

TikTok Made Me Buy It
Call me old fashioned, but I actually like to go to the mall, and shop. I know that most people now a days do all their shopping on line, which is something I vowed I would never do. But one day my world turned upside down when I discovered the TikTok app on my phone. My life would never be the same. It was an epiphany! Now whenever I see things on Tik Tok that I want to buy... well, I do.

What is an Ironman Competition?
Well, until a few years ago, I had no idea. Then I gained an athletic son in law and I was enlightened. It is a three phase competition , which involves a swim of 2.4 miles, a bike ride of 112 miles (usually with lots of steep hills and valleys) and a full marathon, which is 26.2 miles ( with more steep hills and valleys). And to top it off, there is a time limit, albeit a relatively generous one, but it serves as an additional challenge. Just stop for a minute and contemplate the above. Yes, you read it right. Can you even imagine?

I have been cohabiting with the same man for fifty years and by anyone's standards, that's a long, long time. Don't worry. This isn't going to be a lengthy, boring description detailing the minutiae of those fifty years, but rather a celebration of where we are at today, because where we are at today is pretty darn wonderful. We are healthy and happy....most of the time that is. Who could ask for more?

Changing of the Guard
I was saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth and in reading about what this would mean to the Royal Family, the phrase “changing of the guard” caught my eye. This got me to thinking about the changes that we all face as we age and how we navigate the changing of the guard in our family. Home Away From Home As Mom and Dad aged, Big and Little Sis gradually took on a bigger role in their lives. Driving them to appointments and hosting family dinners was now a regular occurrence. The Tiara Trio
Recently, the Sisterhood decided to take a short vacation just to “clear the cobwebs,” relax and above all, maximize the fun factor. We had originally planned a visit to Montreal but instead ended up on Vancouver Island in beautiful British Columbia, Canada….its a long story. Of course we are first and foremost planners. Each sister was charged with bringing an activity so at various points we found ourselves playing Big Sis’ favorite card game called “Sticks”, a version of charades called “Heads Up” favored by Middle Sis and working on our hand eye coordination with Little Sis’ ball contraption. This was to be a post just a few days before we left for Montreal to walk a 5k race and see our brother Randy. But, as we have all experienced numerous times over the past few years, we have had to cancel our trip. This means that we do not have our usual Monday blog post today for your reading pleasure. It’s generally acknowledged that motherhood is a challenge. Not only are you tasked with the every day, keeping the house running smoothly tasks, you are expected to go above and beyond to teach your children essential life skills.
